Kamilya Lamki

Head of School

Being a part of a dynamic learning community is my goal! Being a part of a faculty that strives in every way possible to develop lifelong learners is my destination. My name is Kamilya Lamki.  Ensuring all students have the opportunity to receive top notch education is an objective that I would continue to work towards in any capacity I can. As a teacher, I have served in many capacities including as an elementary and a high school teacher. I then went on to become the Assistant Principal of a state recognized Middle School and as a school principal of an Elementary School. Serving as the Assistant Superintendent for schools in the Austin District I was in charge of 17 middle schools. I had the opportunity to work in different capacities in which I got to work with principals, teachers and other district staff in order to work towards improving school performances. One area I  continuously use is my ability to collaborate and lead staff in developing and implementing a cohesive vision for the educational intuition. It is my profession to teach, provide leadership to schools, advise schools, consult the government, and support all matters related to education. As a person I am dedicated to the education of our future generations and fulfill this dedication in many capacities.   Within the Professional development Department, I was in charge of developing and delivering training including Leadership training for Principals to teaching pedagogy for teachers. Within the curriculum development department, I had the pleasure of working under Dr. Denise Collier, the director of Curriculum and Instruction, who is well renowned in the areas of Curriculum Development. I was a big part of the entire process of revamping the curriculum for Austin Independent School District.  I am dedicated to expanding the student learning experience, while contributing my knowledge of the School System to develop a superior curriculum and student development program.  More recently I moved to the Sultanate of Oman where I served as the superintendent of Knowledge Gate International School and the Educational Consultant at Teclution. As an education consultant I served on boards of directors for various schools, including the board of directors for the Sultan School of Oman and for ABA. As an educational consultant I participated in various research initiatives with the Omani Ministry of Education. R I  was on the board of the  Women in Business forum of Oman with the Chamber of Commerce. Currently I am proudly serving as the Superintendent/Head of School at New World International School whilst working towards her Doctorate in Educational Administration. Being a mother of four children from the ages 21-11 I understand the crucial reasons for providing an exemplary education for all children.  As all moms know that it is important that we constantly must know what is going on in our kids' lives and readjust our techniques in order to ensure we are doing all we can to help our kids be successful members of society.  Using this same thought process I have been admired for constantly interacting with the students in the halls, at lunch, and especially in classrooms. I will visit classrooms and teach a class a month in order to be in touch with the students. i It is imperative to ensure I keep an open door policy making myself  available at all times,  I have also encouraged my teachers to interact and observe one another. Creating a powerful community of learners among the students, and more specifically among the teachers.. As the principal of New World International School I continuously use my ability to collaborate and lead staff in developing and implementing a cohesive vision for the educational intuition. Recognizing the unprecedented and underserved educational demand in the Arab world, I have turned my focus to manageable sustainable solutions. Through her work she is able to facilitate lifelong self-directed learning for children and adults, cultivating a learning community. I have been featured in several articles and on the front page of various magazines including The Woman and Oman Economic Review.  With my education knowledge and my experience I have been viewed as an expert in the GCC Education Space and "the Oprah of Education".  My dedication will always be to facilitating the process of education for our future generations and will fulfill this dedication in both a professional and personal capacity.
